BCRA Midgets and Big Placerville Posse Winnings to fuel Hot August night of championship point racing
PLACERVILLE, CA (8-1-15) – With August upon us, it’s not only the temperatures that are going to be hot this weekend as Placerville Speedway roars back into action this Saturday night with a big night of racing. Not only does the 2015 Red Hawk Casino Championship Series return to action this Saturday night in the battle for the season titles, it's a duel night of competition as the event is also the second leg of the high dollar Placerville Posse Challenge that offers inflated winnings for all three weekly divisions.
But wait…that’s not all! Placerville Speedway has added the Bay Cities Racing Association Midgets to the evening race card for a four division program that will excite all types of race fans. It’s the first of three weeks of big winnings at the 50 year old quarter mile dirt track at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds
The mighty midgets will be in competition with the Domco Plumbing Winged Sprint Car division along with Domco Plumbing Late Models and the Jay's Mobile Welding Pure Stocks. The three weekly divisions will be competing for inflated winnings as part of the new Placerville Posse series within the regular season. The Sprint Car winner will earn $2000 this Saturday night while the Late Model victor takes home $750 and the Pure Stock win is worth $500. The night offers championship points for all three divisions towards the season title while the Sprint Car division winner has the opportunity to make it even richer should they win all four Posse races during the season to pick up a hefty bonus, part of an additional $2000 bonus fund when the fourth segment is complete in August/ Altogether, this four race campaign is nworth as much as $10,000 in bonus winnings to the sprint winner alone.
One such driver that will be gunning for the extra cash is defending Sprint Car Champion and current point leader Greg DeCaires. DeCaires is the winnigest driver at Placerville this season. He currently leads the weekly point standings as well as the special Placerville Posse point standings. Colby Wiesz of Colfax is second in the Posse point standings ahead of Jake Morgan of Fair Oaks, Placerville’s Andy Gregg and Stephen Ingraham of Fair Oaks.
In the weekly championship standings Decaires sits 49 points ahead of Gregg. Mike Benson of Calistoga is third followed by Jake Morgan and Logan Seavey.
In the Limited Late model division, track officials hope a solid car count will be on hand once again to warrant the added payout Saturday night where the winner earns $750. Dominic Stone of Folsom leads the point standings by 20 points in this division. Tyler Lightfoot of Placerville is third followed by Eddie Gardner of Sacramento and Ryan McDaniel of Olivehurst.
In Pure Stock competition, the winner receives $500 this Saturday night. Scott Grunert of Woodland leads the standings in this division. Lonnie Leonard of Elk Grove is second followed by Tim Mack of Diamond Springs, Russell Murphy of Placerville and Jason Palmer of Sacramento.
Tickets for Saturday at $15 for adults. Seniors and Juniors are $13, Children $6 and under six will be admitted for free. The pit gate opens at 2 p.m. Saturday, Grandstands open at 5 with qualifying for the Sprint Cars at 6:30. For further information visit www.placervillespeedway.com.
