50th Anniversary July Fourth Spectacular to bring Fireworks to the track and the air at Placerville Speedway; Kids Are Free!

flag fireworksPLACERVILLE, CA (7-1-15) – It’s a night of great tradition and celebration annually and this year it is expected to even more spectacular that before. This Saturday night, it’s the 50th Anniversary July Fourth Spectacular at Placerville Speedway. What better way could one spend their Independence Day other than witnessing the thrill of local championship auto racing and the spectacle of a giant pyrotechnic display?

The grandstands at Placerville Speedway is the place to be this Fourth of July to enjoy El Dorado County’s only July Fourth Fireworks display. Saturday’s fireworks will take place shortly after dark at the completion of the night’s exciting auto races and will consist of both aerial and ground level displays sure to make fans of all ages wide eyed with excitement. Families are encouraged to bring their kids and their friends as all kids 11 and under will be admitted free Saturday night.

While the fireworks in the sky will sure to delight, fireworks of a different kind are expected on the track Saturday night as the 50th Anniversary Red Hawk Casino Championship season presented by Thompson’s Auto Centers, Domco Plumbing and Jay’s Mobile Welding and Fabrication resumes. Already a lucrative season for teams overall, Saturday’s event will be richer for the Pure Stock division with added sponsorship from Jay’s Mobile Welding which guarantees every driver who starts the feature event $100.

In the Domco Plumbing Sprint Cars, defending champion Greg DeCaires of Elk Grove leads the point standings. DeCaires is a four time winner overall this season and will go head to head with second place point runner Andy Gregg of Placerville. After winning his 20th career feature last Saturday night, Gregg is 24-points behind the leader and will be gunning for back to back wins on one of the speedway’s biggest nights and most electrifying crowds.DeCaires

Mike Benson of Calistoga is third in the standings, 88 points from the top. Former Rookie of the Year Jake Morgan is fourth. Placerville’s own James Sweeney has edged ahead of Sutter’s Logan Seavey to complete the top five.

In the Domco Plumbing Late Models, Dominic Stone of Folsom has moved into the point lead of the division. Stone, responsible for a great amount of sponsorship and support for the track this year with his Folsom based plumbing company, is 3 points ahead of Ray Trimble of Auburn. Ryan McDaniel of Olivehurst is third, 47-points out of the lead. Eddie Gardner of Sacramento is fourth followed by Tyler Lightfoot of Placerville.DSC_1617

In the Jay’s Mobile Welding Pure Stock Division, Lonnie Leonard of Elk Grove continues to hold on to the point lead. Leonard has a five point advantage over defending champion Scott Grunert of Woodland. Rick Grunert of Woodland is 20-points out of the lead in third followed by Tim Mack of Diamond Springs and Russell Murphy of Placerville.

DSC_1344The gates to Placerville Speedway are set to open at 5 p.m. Saturday night and an early arrival is suggested as this night routinely sells out quickly. A special pre-sale of tickets will take place from 3-4 pm at the track box office. Adult Tickets are $20. Juniors (12-15) are $15. Seniors (62+) are $15 and all children 11 and under are free for this night.
