Wear a Cowboy Hat and Save a Dollar on Admission this Saturday night
PLACERVILLE, CA (4-25-15) – This Saturday night is a night of big winnings in the Red Hawk Casino Championship Season at Placerville Speedway presented by Thompson’s Auto Centers. Four divisions will converge at the quarter-mile bullring on the El Dorado County Fairgrounds for the inflated winnings as ART Speed Equipment presents the second segment of the competitive Placerville Posse Challenge.
Saturday's race card includes the Domco Plumbing Winged Sprint Car division along with Domco Plumbing Late Models and the Jay's Mobile Welding Pure Stocks. The three weekly divisions will be competing for inflated winnings as part of the new Placerville Posse series within the regular season. The Sprint Car winner will earn $2000 this Saturday night while the Late Model victor takes home $750 and the Pure Stock win is worth $500. The night offers championship points for two of the three divisions towards the season title while the Sprint Car division winner has the opportunity to make it even richer should they finish well and have an opportunity to earn as much as an additional $2000 bonus in August, making this four race campaign worth as much as $10,000 in bonus winnings to the sprint winner alone.
Additional dates within the racing season Placerville Posse Challenge that offer bonus funds include August 1 and August 22. While the event is richer for the racers, it is cheaper for the fans Saturday night as the track is offering $1 off adult admission to everyone who wears a cowboy hat to the speedway to support the Placerville Posse addition to the program and all of the hometown heroes that are excited about this new local race series that offers winnings equivalent to that of several high profile traveling campaigns.
Saturday’s event is presented by title sponsor Red Hawk Casino along with ART Speed Equipment. For decades, Art and Glenn Boune have been Northern California’s premier supplier for dirt track racers of all makes, models and ages. Not only is ART a preferred supplier to area racing they believe in supporting their local tracks and local racers in the way of support in many ways year after year.
This Saturday night, Colby Wiesz of Colfax tops the roster as the winged sprint car driver with the most momentum towards becoming the king of the Placerville Posse Series. Wiesz already scored victory in the special four race opening on April 11 and is poised for a potential $2000 bonus should he continue his winning ways until the close of the campaign. Weisz is expected to be joined by defending track champion Greg DeCaires of Elk Grove, who chased him to the line in the opener.
Look for many of Placerville’s top locals to be gunning to gold Saturday night like Justin Johnson of Shingle Springs, Placerville’s James Sweeney, Jimmy Trulli of Placerville, Andy Gregg of Placerville and many more. St Helena’s Rico Abreu has announced he will be in competition as his schedule is clear from his commitment in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East this Saturday and it’s a great opportunity to cash in on $2000 close to home.
The Limited Late Models will compete for a $750 win on Saturday night. This division will also be competition for the 2015 Domco Plumbing Championship. Ryan McDaniel of Olivehurst remains undefeated at Placerville Speedway so far this season. The Jay’s Mobile Welding Pure Stock Division will pay $500 to the winner this week. In this division, look for previous winners Dan Jinkerson of Diamond Springs and Rich Zoller of Cameron Park to go for the repeat wins.
In the BCRA Midget Lites, look for Elk Grove's Scott Males to lead the traveling division to the track they like to call home as returns aboard the Red Hawk Casino #9 machine owned locally by Tony Fonseca of Shingle Springs. Males will look to repeat the efforts of his opening night win two weeks ago.
