Civil War Sprint Cars and Hunt Wingless Series to Invade Placerville This Saturday

PLACERVILLE, CA - On the heels of two exciting Civil War Series presented by Flowmaster races, the series roars back to life again this Saturday night at the Placerville Speedway for the first of two visits to the high-banked ¼ mile track in 2015.

During last week’s event at the Marysville Raceway, Andy Forsberg became the first driver to lock into August’s 55th Annual Johnny Key Classic that is held at the Ocean Speedway. This weekends race will offer another spot in the feature event, should a driver besides Forsberg pick up the win.

imageAside from Forsberg scoring his first series win of the season during the 16th Annual Mel Hall Memorial, Jonathan Allard comes into this event as the series’ most recent winner, as he won the highly talked about Silver Dollar Fair Race in Chico, CA on Sunday night.

Over the Memorial Day weekend, the series saw over 40 cars check into the pit area on each night, and with the strong Placerville contingent expected to be on hand Saturday night, another healthy, and deep car count is expected.

With five races in the books in 2015, Rookie of the Year Contender, Robbie Price, has taken over the series point lead, and has been a model of consistency to date. Last weekend, Price pocketed a pair of sixth place finishes, and makes his debut at the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night.

Nipping at Price’s heels is red-hot Justin Sanders. Sanders has been on a terror in 2015, and though he did not have the weekend he was looking for in Marysville, CA and Chico, CA he was able to pick up a pair of Top-10’s, and is just six markers out of the point lead.

Sitting third in Civil War Series presented by Flowmaster points is Bradley Terrell. The early season point leader had a hiccup on Sunday night at the Silver Dollar Speedway, and slipped to third in the standings, just 37 digits out of the top spot.

Fresno, CA driver Koen Shaw sits fourth in Civil War Series points heading into the race this weekend. Though Shaw hasn’t been flashy he has been solid, and as he was in 2014, consistency is key.

2014 series champion, Shane Golobic rounds out the Top-5 after five nights of action. With one win to his credit already in 2015, Golobic will look to become the series’ first repeat winner of the season at the Placerville Speedway, a track that he has had much success at as of late.

New in 2015, drivers will be able to throw out their lowest point night of the season in their quest for the 2015 Civil War Series Championship, an exciting twist that will see the championship come down to the final night of the season.

The Civil War Series will be joined by the Placerville Speedway contingent so driver expected to be on hand include, Andy Forsberg, Dominic Scelzi, Jonathan Allard, Sean Becker, Steven Tiner, Matt Peterson, Cody Lamar, Colby Wiesz, Greg DeCaires, Jimmy Trulli, Andy Gregg, Mike Benson, Kurt Organ, Jake Morgan many more of the regions top drivers.

Saturday night, the front gates will open at 5pm with tickets start at just $6 for kids 6-11, $15 for juniors and seniors, and adult tickets available for $18. The Placerville Speedway also offers an ‘Early Bird’ opportunity, as they will open their box office from 3-330pm to allow fans to by their tickets early.

ON TAP: The Civil War Series presented by Flowmaster will be back in action on Saturday night as they invade the high-banked Placerville Speedway which will also offer the winner a berth in the 55th Annual Johnny Key Classic.

WINNERS: Shane Golobic (March 20th, Marysville Raceway), Bradley Terrell (March 28th, Petaluma Speedway), Sean Becker (April 11th, Calistoga Speedway), Andy Forsberg (May 23rd Marysville Raceway), Jonathan Allard (May 24th Silver Dollar Speedway)
