2016 Red Hawk Casino Championship Season concludes with Al Hinds Tribute

Placerville, CA (August 25)...This Saturday night at Placerville Speedway, the final night of the 2016 Red Hawk Casino Championship Series concludes with the annual "Tribute to Al Hinds" at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds.

After 16 events, the three weekly divisions racing for points will square off for one final showdown, to determine the champions in the Thompson's Auto Group 360 Sprint Car series, the Domco Plumbing Limited Late Model division, and the Jay's Mobile Welding and Fabricating Pure Stock division.

"We can't think of a better way to finish off the regular season at Placerville, than to remember Al Hinds", said first year promoter Scott Russell. "Al was a huge supporter of this facility throughout his lifetime, and was even a promoter here in the late 60s and early 70s (when it was then known as Hangtown Speedway). We are proud to continue the tradition of honoring him, and feel it very fitting to end the championship season in tribute to him."

Mason Moore heads into the final night of competition in the 360 Sprint Cars aboard the F&F Racing #x1 with a virtually insurmountable lead over defending track champion Greg DeCaires in the Dale Miller #4SA car. While not mathematically eliminated, DeCaires will have to have a perfect night and trouble will need to befall Moore for him to repeat as champion for the third year in a row. In addition, the Thompson's Auto Group 360 Sprints will be racing for an increased purse, with $2,000 going to the winner.

In the Limited Late Models, Eddie Gardner aboard his own #3 needs only to sign in to secure the driver's title. However, he leads Mike Lightfoot only by 2 points in the owner's title chase. Look for this battle to go down to the wire to decide who will emerge as owner's champion.

The best championship battle will be in the Pure Stock division, which sees a three man race to decide who will be the 2016 Red Hawk Casino Champion with just 21 points separating the trio. Nick Baldwin has led the series all season long, and holds a 10 point advantage over 5 time feature winner Dan Jinkerson. Scott Grunert sits just 11 points behind Jinkerson and still has an opportunity to win the title, despite the 21 point deficit.

In addition to the regular weekly divisions, the BCRA Midget Lites will be making their final visit of the year to the "Fastest Dirt Track in California" Saturday night. Kyle Offill, Craig Dillard, Scotty Males and all the regulars with BCRA will be on hand for the final event of the season. Pit gates will open at 2PM with the front gates opening at 3PM. Racing begins at 7PM.
