Placerville, CA (September 15)…Placerville Speedway will conclude it’s 2016 racing season with three marquee nights of racing, beginning with Saturday, September 24’s third and final visit of year by the King of the West Sprint Car Series, followed by the inaugural running of the NorCal Posse Shootout for 360 Sprint Cars on Friday and Saturday, October 14 & 15th.
Following a successful season at the 1/4 mile clay oval, new track promoters Scott Russell and Kami Arnold are excited about finishing strong in the opening year. “We are really pleased with the schedule we have created that allows us to spread our wings a little at the end of the season”, Russell said proudly. “The first two KWS events of the season were very successful for us, and we are looking forward to their return for the final time this season next week”.
Current KWS points leader Kyle Hirst leads the series back to Placerville with a season-high five main event victories aboard the Roth Motorsports/ Tarlton & Son No. 21x machine. Campbell’s Bud Kaeding ranks second in the standings and has two wins on the season. KWS Rookie of the Year candidate Justyn Cox sits third in points, but is still searching for his first career series win next weekend. Jason Statler and D.J. Netto round out the top five.
In addition to the KWS Series, the BCRA Midgets and the IMCA Sport Mods will be on hand for the final time of the year for each series. Pit gates open at 2pm while the front gates open at 3pm. Racing will begin at 7pm.
The inaugural NorCal Posse Shootout promises to be the icing on the cake for the 2016 season at Placerville Speedway. “As a former winged 360 Sprint Car competitor and car owner, I have always wanted to see a big end of the year show here at Placerville”, Russell admitted. “Kami and I are very pleased to see that finally come to fruition. We have a lot of great things planned for that weekend, and we are looking forward to the event. It will see a big purse and a lot of great racers in competition, so it promises to be a great weekend of racing to end our first season as promoters”.
