Placerville, Calif. – Throughout Placerville Speedway’s 2022 racing season, fans in attendance will not only be thrilled by the skills of professional drivers as they pilot various kinds of vehicles at high speeds around the well-known track, they also will see “Go Safely” and other anti-DUI messages thanks to the Speedway’s collaboration with the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) and the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).
The “Go Safely” consciousness-raising public campaign will remind racing fans about the dangers of impaired driving, promote the use of a designated sober driver, and emphasize the importance of always having fun responsibly. To drive home further the “Go Safely” theme, fans will also hear multiple audio messages such as “Choose a Sober Way to Go” at every event.
“We are thrilled to work with Placerville Speedway on this important message for all fans and community members,” OTS Director Barbara Rooney said. “These reminders help drive responsible and smart decisions among fans.”
“A fun night with friends and family should never end tragically by mixing alcohol and driving,” said Caltrans Director Tony Tavares. “The appropriate place for high-speed driving is the racetrack, not on the highway, and no one who has been drinking should ever get behind the wheel of any vehicle.”
Placerville Speedway Promoter Kami Arnold also spoke about the new partnership. “As a family that knows the negative consequences and has been directly impacted by the results of driving while intoxicated, we knew this would be a good partnership. We want our fans and teams to not only be safe while at Placerville Speedway but want them to make safe and smart choices while traveling to and from the track as well. With all the conveniences of modern technology, there isn’t any reason why everyone shouldn’t be able to get home safely.” To learn more about ways to stay safe on the go, visit gosafelyca.org.
